Hi there everyone!

I'm new to this site and are getting a little worried now.

I've been with Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange for years now and have only had minor problems, I heard about the new 'HomeMax' and joined it online on the 1/10/07, I was paying £14.99 for 2mb broadband so I thought what the hell £24 a month, get loads more and get rid of my BT phone bill (will probably save about £3 a month).

Would it be safe to say that if my internet has been ok it will continue to be so after I've change to homemax?

Well you'll probably get a speed upgrade as part of the package. Thats the main area that could cause problems but generally if you've not had any troubles so far then it should go ok.

Thanks, i'm not expecting anywhere near 8meg so I'm not too worried about that, hopfully that will be something that'll get better with time

I have just upgraded to max and my download speed is now 129kbps but most of the time i'ts not working at all, my land line doesn't work half the time and although I have sent 6 emails to Orange, all they do is tell me to check my pc etc. I have asked them to cancel my contract and they will not respond to that, I work for the biggest subscriber mag in the uk and I shall write a journal about the non performance of Orange before taking legal action. Watch this space!!

129 would suggest a 135 IP Profile ADSL Max connection which has some major stability issues. Your line stats will help give more of an idea on that.

Have to checked through your filter setup, tried from the master socket, from the test socket?

Its an ISP (not a good one at that) not the gestapo if they are not delivering and if you have proof of that they have no choice but to cease your contract if they intimidate you into thinking otherwise report them to Ofcom and the ISPA its you thats paying them for the service not the other way around.
If enough people start reporting them Ofcom will act on it as stated by others on this site.
