My LiveBox always was troubling me, some time ago I had very high latencies/ping's while playing games, but fortunately that was fixed ages ago.
And now more recently my Livebox DC's (Synchronization in progress then PPP in progress) randomly during connection.
So I was thinking of switching routers,
Is this possible? eg use a more professional router instead of the livebox, or has Orange 'locked' us on using Livebox? And if so, which router would be the best to use?
And could my disconnects be the cause of the bulky and unneccessary 5m long wiring from the phone socket? Or is my Livebox just faulty? Has anyone else experienced these problems lately?
The long wiring may be effecting it. It would be worth trying without it, in the socket directly, if possible to see if that helps with the problem. After all why buy something new you may not need without checking that first?
After setting it up, I could only visit some websites such as Google.
So I went on my Livebox to investigate, I found out it was locked to BT ISP only. So I had to reflash the router in order to unlock it, which I did. And now it works perfectly fine, the line is always synched and it offers lots of extra functions. Also I connected the Router directly to the phone socket, and used the extra long wiring to connect to my DECT phone/etc... Its been up and running for 2 hours so far, and no problems at all so far.
