I knew Orange BB had problems, but never that they were bad enough to warrant a forum in its honour. What a bunch of morons Orange are!
Heres my problem
My line was upgraded to 4mb months back, but of course, I could never connect at that spped. I usually connected at 2.2-3meg.
Since Friday night, I have been able to connect at only 640kbps (608/706 sometimes)
Obviously that ain't good for what I should be getting and have been recieving.
I rang their joker helpline aka technical support, and I downloaded the new drivers for my speedtouch modem. Another said give it a day or so, and if the problem doesn't fix itself, get intouch and we can do a line test.
does anybody know what could be up? ringing them for assistance is really, as useful a s achocalte fireguard.
if you are on IP stream max, your line will fluctuate to give you the best speed, if you are on LLU, then it could be the issue that tvman suggested. But if it is on ipstream max, then there isnt much you can do about your speed being like that, the best way to find out what type your line is on is actually to give Orange a call, and just ask if you are on LLU or IPstream/ipstream max(also known as adsl max). Once you find out, post here, but if its IPstream max, there isnt much you can do about the lower speed, thats the way the line works, and its like that for everyone on IPSM
Almost. Open Internet Explorer and type into address bar 192.168.1.1/testinfo.html Copy and paste here the second part of the results. Thats where they start with ADSL_VERSION
First of all you are on LLU which has a known problem with download speeds at present.
Secondly, your downstream noise margin is a bit on the low side.
If you have a master socket where the bottom half has a removable cover then try this if you have not already done so. Remove the cover. This will isolate all extensions and any equipment connected to these. Plug you modem directly into the test socket of the master. You will see this on the part of the socket that is still attached to the wall after you remove the above mentioned cover. When plugging modem directly into this test socket do not use a filter. Take your stats again and post back here.
As LLU has a known speed issue then doing the above may not improve anything but it is certainly worth a try and at least eliminates any problems with internal wiring.
