About 3 weeks ago we were going to leave Orange but they offered to change our connection from 1mb to "up to 4mb" and lower the price to £12.99 a month with the first 3 months free so we decided to stay.
Ever since then our internet has been all over the place , one day its 25kB download speed next day its 300kB.
Anyway the reason I need help is because the download speed seems to go down everytime we get disconnected..whenever we lose our internet connection, I pick up the phone and listen to the dial tone and there is lots of cracky noise, so I think this is why we are getting disconnected.
We are using a BT Voyager 2110 plugged into the main socket with nothing else plugged in except the phone...both of which are connecting via the BT filter we got free with the router.
The problem is that the crackly noise comes and goes randomly..we had a BT engineer out to the house last week and of course when he came there was absolutely NO crackles on the line..but within 4 hours of him leaving the crackles were there again...just sods law I guess
We live in the countryside but are only about 2.5KM (straight line) from our Local Exchange.
We phoned BT again about it and I said the crackles was really effecting our internet access but the BT guy said we should contact our ISP instead so we did...but as Im sure you can imagine, the Indian tech support wasnt much help. (Line test call back in 48 hours blah blah)
