We left Orange for Be back in August. Now I get an email from Orange stating:
"We've noticed you're not using your Orange Talk service that's included with your Orange Broadband package, so we're going to remove it. In case you don't know, it's a bit like having a second phone line in your home that works through your Livebox (the wireless modem that we provided you with).
Don't worry though, your broadband will continue to work in exactly the same way and nothing will change with how you get online or the amount you pay. It's just that your 'Talk' telephone number won't work any more.
If you do want to keep your Talk service, all you have to do is make a call within the next 30 days.
Pathetic. I have no intention of replying to let them know the error of their ways in case I reactivate something.
Anyone else received this?

did you use a MAC code to move to be? i would suggest calling up and double checking that your account is indeed actually closed

I did use a MAC. I called them a week or so after Be took over to do just that, and was assured that it was closed. To be fair I've not been been charged since and reassuringly I can't log onto my account details, so I'm not overly concerned at this stage.
Unless they start charging me again, I'm not going to call them (giving them more undeserved income) and risk them reactivating something.

I would definitlety recommend cancelling your direct debit with Orange.
They have on many occasions still taken money from people's accounts after they've left.

Mine was paid by monthly credit card payment. I called the card company to see what could be done their end to prevent further payments. They told me I had to get Orange to cancel their end. Not much help, but they have got a note on my account to which to refer should we have a problem in the future.

I know that sometimes it's convenient or perhaps out of necessity to have regular amounts charged to a credit card but I just wonder how many people realise that by so doing all control over the payments is lost to their creditors.
As you now know, you are unable to cancel that DD on your credit card, only Orange can do this.

I did know, but I'm not sure at the time dd was an option. I did consider changing payment type before migration, but thought that was just one more thing for them to mess up. In any case I'd rather give rogues like Orange access to a credit card than my bank account. If things go totally pear-shaped it's less hassle cancelling a credit card than freezing your current account.
If they do charge again, I'll notify the card company, and they will put the transaction into "dispute" and investigate. I've got plenty of evidence to show that Orange cannot possibly be providing a service:
Exhibit 1: a fast stable connection
