I'm still on a 2mb capped connection and thoroughly fed up with phoning the Orange customer couldn't care less lines every two days
I asked for a MAC code yesterday and will have to pay the 9 months left on the years up to 8mb contract that they kept too for just the 6weeks (42 days) that I was able to get 6.5 - 7mb
But who do I go with?
BT say I will get up to 5mb but will probably be less!
Be*: I need to use Outlook Express and Incredimail, webmail is not suitable for me. I've read that they block the ports you need to use. It also seems that you need to tinker with the router/modem and it isn't "plug and play" Anyone with Be that can comment or help?
I need suggestions please for a relaible/honest ISP that do give you the contracted speed
If you were getting 6MB before, then you should get then again with a decent ISP
When you say BT say you will only get up to ..., is that the online speed predictor? It's not that reliable TBH. I used to be with F2S, left for Orange when I won a years free BB. At the time Orange only gave me 1MB based on the speed predictor. That may have been before the days of ADSL Max. All I do know is that when my year was up and I asked for my MAC, they magically ramped my speed up to about 5MB, only to put it down again on LLU
When I do leave, I am expect to get the 5MB I had before with a new ISP. or maybe better. If you go with the likes of for example fast, adsl24, entanet reseller, zen, idnet, be, you won't be disappointed

Hi Katieson
I'm with Be* their packages come without email and is extra if you want a bethere.co.uk address.
They block port 25 so if you use an email account that uses port 25 you have to use their smtp server smtp1.betherenow.co.uk, however if you join on the Unlimited or Pro package you have a choice of a static IP for free if you choose to have a static IP port 25 is automatically unblocked so you can use ur usual email account.
Most who dont use Be's email or have alternative use GMail as they use different ports and are totally independent from Be's email servers and is free.
Hope this helped.

I phoned BT sales this morning and was told I would only ever get up to 5mb with them and it's possible I could only get 1, 2 or 3 mb. I may as well stay with Orange and save the £108 early cancellation fee
My status has changed to LLU since yesterday, my speed is exactly the same, capped at 2mb, Orange do not have LLU enabled at my exchange. What are they playing at now I wonder?
I look forward to getting my MAC code, I know I could be in for a long wait
Kate
