Ok have been with Orange broadband (originally freeseerve) for years. Paying £17.99 per month. Finally got round to looking for a better deal , looked at their website and found I could get it for £12 per month so applied for that. Yes I know this was a big mistake but I just thought I was changing the cost did not realise that it was a new contract (I know shoot me now!) Anyway service has gone from bad to worse. I frequently have to reboot the wireless livebox cause the connections rubbish. I lose the connection EVERYTIME my phone rings so I can't be on the computer and the phone unless I restart the live box (and this does not always work), and after spending a couple of weeks getting cross cause people wern't responding to my emails I've now found that they've started bouncing and that ones I'm sending are appearing in my sent tray but are not arriving. I also keep getting a box flashing up on screen asking me to enter my network password etc (this seems to happen when I try and open outlook) All this has only been since I altered the contract.
I now despratly want out of this. I've written to Orange and told them that I want putting back on the old deal as the service is now rubbish and they rang me back and left a message saying I could'nt because it no longer exsists so I would have to go on the website and choose one of their existing deals. I really want to leave altogether.
Can someone please tell me is there anything I can do about this?
Thanks

Even though you are under contract Orange have to, by law, provide you with a MAC code within 5 working days if you request one.
This would allow you to move to a real ISP.
Any dispute over payment etc is separate to this.
The point is they are are usally breaking the contract as they cannot provide a real service, the contract then becomes void.
Also by reporting them to both OFCOM and the ISPA it usually helps in getting them to listen as they cannot just ignore these organisations.
Well the connection issues could be a setup problem. Have you tried connecting the livebox through a filter with a phone connected and nothing else on the line.

Not sure what you mean by nothing else on the line. (sorry Im a bit thick when it comes to all this settin up stuff) Also I have not changed any of the set up (I had the livelbox for about a year before changing to home starter) and I've never had this problem before so cant see how it can be to do with my set up otherwise it would have been doing this from when the livelbox was set up in the first place would'nt it? or am I missing something?
Thanks

So can I basically move and then argue about the money later? If so has anyone done this? Also what is the best way to request a MAC code, do I just ring or would it be better to put it in writing?
Thanks

Well it's something you should check for this sort of problem because that's the normal cause.
There could have been some minor behind the scenes changes that are effecting the signal coming through, could be nothing wrong but may highlight previously unnoticeable problems.
Generally if you've not changed anything then the setup will be ok but I've seen it happen so much that you always check the setup to make sure it looks ok.
Ideally connect your livebox through a filter into your main socket, test socket if you can (behind the lower half of the faceplate if you have the right socket), see if the broadband works and then see if you get the same sorts of problems with the phone disconnecting it. Swap to a different filter. If it's always the same then it's probably not your setup or wiring. When you do this unplug anything plugged into any other phone sockets to be sure.

call Orange and ask to speak to the cancellation department. they will offer you retention packages and they will be able to put you on your old package at a reduced cost with probably months free and could reduce contract to 12 months. give it a try and let me know
noname, I know you say you work for cancallations or retentions, but why would Orange reduce your monthly sub if they know they have you locked into a new contract
I got a reasonable deal and the service was great while I was on ADLSMax. The moment I was LLU'd was when I started pulling my hair out.

just for the simple fact that it is a retention offer, if you threaten to leave then they will be able to put you more or less on your old package, but if you're not happy with it being an 18 month contract ask for it to be reduced. plus because it is an old package they can offer it cheaper
I appreciate that noname (I'm on a retention package too) but since "MAC" has already gone from £17.99 a month to £12 a month and locked into a new contract, surely Orange won't reduce it further if you ask for a MAC code will they? They will just fine pay the penalty charge or put up with what you've got unless he can claim the service is not fit for purpose
