I hope this is the correct section.
My apologies if I'm mistaken.
I cancelled my Orange broadband (so I thought) when I asked for my MAC code.
I am now safely away with a proper ISP, thanfully.
However I now find that Orange are chasing me for a final payment - I cancelled my direct debit the instant the service swapped over.
Thank God I have hard copies of all but one the emails (sods law that it was the 1st one of course - but it is copied on their reply although I can't see a time & date noted on it).
I received their 1st reply to my email at 3:18am on 7th Dec and it clearly says
"Thanks for letting us know that you want to cancel you Orange home broadband service......etc etc"
I believe that is proof that I had not only requested a MAC code but that I had given notice that I wanted to cancel the broadband service
(and what the hell else does anyone want a MAC code for anyway ?).
I transferred on the 19th Dec.
I had paid normally up until the 2nd Jan 2008
(and was miffed about losing half a months payment as it was).
I should also say Orange broke the rules (as I understand them) on the changeover and instantly stopped my service on the 19th (instead of giving me 7 days to ensure the change was completed properly & that I had a stable connection with my new ISP).
I should add that I consider that they had never supplied me with the fast speeds they advertised (excepting perhaps for a total of a few weeks in the whole year since I signed up to it).
Most of the year was spent on the same or slightly slower than my old 2mb connection speeds.
However.
So, they are basically expecting a months payment for absolutely nothing.
That surely cannot be right?
I'd like to complain about this kind of behaviour too, can anyone suggest a course of action & relay their own experiences with this?
I just don't want the b@stards to get all vindictive about it & try and black-list me for non-payment - which I wouldn't put past them).
