I understand that BT with associates are forming a network of subscriber hot spots, i.e members can connect through other members hubs, free of charge if they allow their own hub to be shared. Hope thismake sense.
My question is: Does Orange have any plans to do the same thing ?
I think it is an excellent idea and would seriously thinkof changing toT for this facility.
By the way I only live a few hundred yards frommy local exchange and my 8mb is verfy slow. The best I have achieved is just over 4,but usually around 2mb. Why am I paying the extra then ?
You're talking about the Fon deal. AFAIK there's nothing similar going to happen with Orange, possible but unlikely I think.
It would be another router Orange would have to support, so I can't see it happening. Besides I can't see too many people giving up a portion of their bandwidth if they are on LLU

I should be so lucky. Been off broadband for most of the past four months. And even when they do get it working it has only been 1meg at most. the last time they got it working it lasted all of ten minutes. Been out today and bought the 3G dongle. Plugged in and 30 seconds later i had a 3.2meg hookup. And this is mobile. I work central London so it would be the strongest signal, but I wait to see what level I get at home.
Of course the funniest thing is that Orange try to sell me other packages! They cant provide broadband, but want me to risk buying their other services !
I read a review of one of those recently, apparently they connect at 3.2 ready for when the system gets upgraded, they currently run at 2.6/2.8 (I forget exactly what) in "turbo areas" that is if you're talking about the 3 one.
Also speeds seem to be somewhat less than what the connection speed suggests.
