I can't send e-mail using Outlook 2007 (installed the other day). I can recieved mail (because that is recieved via my own domain) but Orange tell me (after eight calls to their help and tech teams) that their servers don't support OUtlook 2007. However, the sound so clueless that i don't believe them.
When I try to send, I get the error message, "none of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server." I've tried from both my PC and laptop.

Server Settings
email server: POP3
pop server (incoming): pop.orangehome.co.uk
smtp server (outgoing): smtp.orangehome.co.uk
secure password authentication: no
Advice from Orange suggest changing the server on pop and smtp to’freeserve.co.uk’ and also changing the outgoing smpt port (using the Advanced Tab) from default 25 to 587 or 465 if the problem re-occured.
Thanks for that Keith, I've tried it and I'm still not getting any joy with any of the combinations. Naturally, Orange only suggest turning my PC on and off again.
This general problem cropped up earlier this year. It wasresolved then by specifying an Orange SMTP server.
Since that time I have used a specific Orange server :-
193.252.22.138
You set it in the SMTP server section.
If I remember correctly there were 3 others which also could work, last 3 digits were .139 .140 .141
Thanks for that !! all my Outlook Express sent mail never got delivered, since i changed my outgoing to 193.*** everything has been fine.
seems smtp.orangehome.co.uk doesnt cut it.
Thanks but I'm still suffering - I've tried the alternative smtp addresses you provided and even tried them in combination with kieth's solution from above but I still can't send mail.
