Okay , the 5th of november my internet was cut off because of one missed payment and so i rang up and asked to pay over the phone so they could get me back online , "no sir you cannot do that , we will have to clear your line and then register again , this usually takes 10 days" , I was stunned by what i had heard , y disconnect me ???? , so an aggonising 10 day wait , then i rang back and i registered again for the 8mb broadband, he said that he would send me the livebox in the post , GREAT were getting somewhere i thought , another 10 day wait to have the internet back up , 7 days went past and still no livebox ????? WHERE THE HELL IS IT ??25th november, after 10 days the supposed day of reconnection , i got out my old livebox and plugged it in and NOTHING !!!!!!!! still not connected!!
so i rang them up and said "what the hell is going on ???" he said "im sorry sir there was a problem with the BT line , and the engineering department is closed , please call back tommorow"!!
I called back tommorow and some lady told me that my line was active and that the internet will be back on tommorow !!! YAY!!
the day comes and still no internet !!!WTF !!
rang back on that same day, and they said that the lines was active , but something wasnt quite right and that it would be sorted by monday which is the 2nd or 3rd of december , but im really not getting my hopes up !!!
has anyone else ever had this much hassle with Orange ???
if so can anybody please point me in the right direction ??
Orange just never cease to amaze in their pathetic excuse for an ISP.
I would strongly recommend registering a complaint with both the ISPA and OFCOM.
This often helps to get things moving as Orange cannot ignore these organisations like they do their customers.
I had a bad experience with Orange last year and lost my connection for 2 weeks solid.
I left after that as it's just disgraceful. Like yourself, they just give you excuses over the phone as to why there is no connection.
They seem to have got you into a new contract too as you said they re-registered you.
Even though people are under contract Orange have to, by law, provide you with a MAC code within 5 working days if you request one.
This would allow you to move to a real ISP.
Virtual,
Orange effectively ended their contract with you by closing you down like that. (The 10 days waiting for the line to clear is the removal of the TAG so that you are free to sign up to another ISP)
Can I ask what package you're on? Unless you have strong reasons to be with Orange I'd strongly recommend trying to sign up with another ISP ASAP before Orange tag your line again.
Someone posted a method for logging into your BT account and seeing what ISP provisioning and clearing had taken place on it. Does anyone have that, and can that info be made sticky?
im on the up to 8meg home package , ive been told to ring back tommorow (monday) and they said they will have a date that this will all be sorted , they said the line is active , but there was a problem so...
ok then i rang them back this morning and they said that the tech unit or something like that was busy at the moment and they said that they are having to migrate my connection ??? wateva that means and that i have to ring back tommorow at 9 am !!! can anybody tell me wat they are on about ???
Two whole weeks without it? I have been without it for most of the last four months. Today I bit the bullet and bought a 3G wireless dongle and signed up for 15 a month. It is working in my laptop as I speak. I am paying 27.99/month! to Orange. Compensation is agreed for when I get the service back again, but I am loath to change tarrifs as I would be locked in to another 12 month contract. As others have said been since the early freeserve days so sad to leave, if I do.
Actually only getting 300k at the moment, but am inside a steel shell building where my mobile has trouble working

I was in the same situation as you. It was excuse after excuse, and I had also been with them since the early freeserve days.
They're hopeless. Absolutely incompetent. Bail out and you'll never regret it. In fact, like me, you'll be asking yourself why you put up with it so long after you realise that an ISP service really doesn't have to be like that.
I switched six months ago and have never had a problem since. They did get back to me to try and claim a couple of months payment that were overdue, and I wrote back to them with an invoice for six months of non-existent service. They then waived this 'bill' and apologised for the shoddy service they had provided over the last six months. Too little too late as far as I was concerned.
