I have just installed my new livebox on my pc, no problems.(Ethernet)
The problem is when i try to connect a 2nd one (Ethernet).
it keeps failing and saying the probable cause is the firewall, the pc doesnt have a firewall on it yet.
So i am stumped.
While the built in firewall can cause problems with things it shouldn't prevent an ethernet connection establishing.
Best before turning it off, on the PC with problems connect the cable go into network connections right click local area connection if the first thing it says is enable click it otherwise select status.
Come back and let us know the Status from the general tab, address type and IP address from the support tab.
I have exhausted almost all options including trying different cables and also a different pc. thought first it may be that the pc that was failing was just too old, but having tried my friends one and that failing too that idea was dispelled.
I have managed to connect the 2nd pc now
It seems the livebox firewall was the problem after all as after disabling it it all connected fine!
(i remember seeing a thread suggesting the firewall may be a problem to connecting, may have been yours Gippeswyc.... )
