I have for 6 months been trying to sort my 8meg Max package up.
Best I have ever had is 3500 but it went down to less than dial up for
weeks. I am using an Origo router 2 others have been tried with the same results. I have rewired the cables to the router.
Various phone calls got me nowhere. It finally went up to 3000 with them doing nothing I was told.
Now this last weeks the line has been disconnecting on a regular basis.
Since 17Nov to 19 nov its dropped the line 527 times. YES 527. Its been esculated since Oct 11. No real move forward. I have been told line checks are to be done but I have never had any result reported to me, you know the ring back in 5 days lies.Today the Tech dept advised me that there Line Test system will NOT accept my BT phone number to do a test on. So there has never been a line test done. I checked with BT today they say my Voice line is fine but are not able to do a Broadband test.. Yes my phones work. My work is electronics. I have just reached the end now. If I get my MAC code could it be that a replacement ISP wont take me on with a faulty line.
What can I do now. I am just lost as to what to do.
What with lies on lies I just dont understasnd Orange at all.
I have been with Freeserve since I got on the Internet some 5 years
No customer loyalty now I fear.
ADVICE anyone ?
Johnny.
If the faults system won't accept your number anymore it doesn't mean no tests were done previously, just there's no way to check or see the results anymore. It also means the system thinks you no longer have broadband for some reason, if you can connect, just intermittantly then it's probably some system glitch which needs to be corrected so they can then find the fault.
I don't know of any ISP's that wouldn't accept a faulty line as it's not something they normally check. If there was some major fault then worst that could happen is BT refuse to migrate until the issue is corrected first, but that would mean they're already working on it.
Orange always use their famous 'line test' scripts which is basically a way to stall people.
I had the same last year they said 'their is a fault on your BT line'.
As soon as I moved from them to Idnet this apparent line fault disappeared!
There are so many posts on this site, including myself, where people move to a new ISP and there is no fault at all that Orange have claimed.
So my advice is to move to a real ISP that care like BE, Idnet etc and immediately get a fast, stable connection instead of an excuse for one.
Check your line hasn't been capped under their trial scheme for super users. my speed has been that for the same dates and is capped. But being Orange and being as incompetent as they are the cap is all the time instead of the hours of 6pm til midnight.
They said they would do a line test, surprise surprise!!!
I said the line is fine it is your cap and incompetency. I've got my MAC and after 18 months with Orange am off to Sky.
