This is my first posting and I wondered if anyone has had the same problem with Orange broadband. We lost connection (again) on 5 October.
After numerous calls to technical services and customer care we received the MAC code last week. Tried to cancel payment to Orange but because it's on a credit card it has to be cancelled by them. Still got 3 months to run on the contract and really don't want to pay them anymore. Got credit card statement yesterday and they have taken Novembers payment. Any ideas how to get rid of them for good!!!!!!!!!!
This has come up a couple of times before about Orange taking money from credit cards.
My idea was to ring your bank and canel your card - just say it has been lost.
They will then send you a new one shortly afterwards.
Any companies taking money from your old credit card will not be able to continue until you give them the detials of this new one.
See I lost mine not so long ago and cancelled it with the bank.
They sent me a new one and my ISP - Idnet emailed me to say they couldn't get payment from my old credit card so I had to give them detials of the new one.
Although the credit card matches your bank account number it has itself a unique number which must be given out to companies.

when your new isp uses the MAC code they inform Orange of the migration and then Orange apply a 30 day cancellation notice on your account- which is why you will have been charged an additional month. once your acc is closed after the 30 day notice no more payment to Orange will be made
It's just dawned on me...
If you're gonna get stung for this 30 days notice no matter what, then everyone may as well migrate as soon as Orange have collected the penultimate debit from your contract then?

My contract is up on the 17th december Orange are due to take another payment from me in about 10 days time. So considering my line has been capped for the past two weeks 24/7 and they aren't even bothering to fix the problem despite numerous phone calls would it be wise to cancel my account now or wait till after the 17th
