I am based in france and use an Orange livebox and smtp Orange.fr to send mails.

i have a vonage uk account and want to buy the vonage adapter from the uk so i can plug it into my livebox and make calls free to uk, usa and french numbers.

will the uk box work in france with my french livebox?

can anyone advise me if this is all going to work or not?

Vonage says: "If you sign up to Vonage in the UK, and take your telephone adapter to France or to Spain, where approximately one million Brits have second homes, you can plug the Vonage service into a broadband connection and make and receive telephone calls as if you were in the UK.

"So in that case you're not making any long-distance calls back to the UK, and your family and friends in the UK aren't making long-distance calls to you in Spain or France. You're eliminating that cost from the equation."

But I doubt it will work with a livebox because Orange themselves offer VoIP and probably block 3rd party connections.

AFAIK they don't block 3rd party VOIP services. If it's just an ethernet connection then it should work fine, you may need to setup port forwarding for it but I don't know for sure about that.

Only thing you may need to do is if it has it's own power supply is get an adapter so you can use it.
