Hi Everyone!
I have been having problems with Livebox since the day I got it. I received it on August 2007. I live in Bahrain and this year a new ISP company opened call Lightspeed communication. They offered a package called Surf & Talk which includes Unlimited Internet Broadband and a VoIP number. I subscribed to that package and got my Livebox along with it.
The Livebox I got is not working properly! It disconnects frequently! I have called him many times until they exchanged the one I got with another new one but still the same problem. I also got another router which works perfectly without any problems but the problem is that I can't use my VoIP Number. Is there anyway that I can't use that VoIP number without Livebox? Is there a way that I can use my VoIP number through my other router which is 3com.
Well, if you were in the UK and with Orange, you could only use the livebox with the VoIP number with the Orange talk package. You can't use that number with a 3rd party router.
To my knowledge Lightspeed Communications is a USA based satellite comms. supplier and nothing to do with Orange, who are part of France Telecom.

If you want the VOIP you'll need to use the livebox. I don't know how the setup is over there but it has to be similar for ADSL connections. You want to check the wiring of your property to make sure it's ok, disconnect all you can and connect the livebox to the socket nearest to where it comes in.
Despite all the weird and wonderful technical advice, you will find that it is a Livebox problem, your best bet is to try and obtain an old Wanadoo Livebox, that may work for you.

As mentioned in your other thread there is no really difference between the old and new ones. The setup and connection still needs to be checked first to make sure it's not just something simple.

They may look the same, have the same software and hardware, but their tolerances are different, some work, some do not work, its as simple as that.
