I have been a Freeserve / Wanadoo then Orange Anytime dial-up customer for 6 years and recently took advantage of an offer from Orange to go onto Broadband Starter. I was told that i would get a new modem through the post to connect me.
This was 5 weeks ago and Orange have cut-off my old dial-in access.
After 5 phone calls to 5 different people it seems they have sent my modem to my old address and they say that they are unable to change the address record at the distribution company who send modems out !.
The only way they can do it it to make a manual amendment to the address details at the time they send the modem out - which they say they have done 3 times already, but still i received nothing.
Does anyone else have this problem and if so what can we do about it - i have been without any internet for 4 weeks now and i feel like cancelling the whole thing and going with aniother provider !.

You are very patient i would have gone after the first modem never arrived and they still havn't sorted it out, breach of contract? and you ain't even connected yet,not a very good sign is it.

The problem here is that you have agreed to a new contract and Orange
will try to hold you to it. Now of course as they haven't provided you
with a modem so that you can use the account they are in breach of the
terms of the contract. You can ask for a MAC and move to another
provider. Orange must provide a MAC within 5 days but will most likely
chase you for the balance of the contract. Personally I would move to
another provider and send a recorded delivery letter to Orange
explaining that you are leaving because they have not complied with
their contractual obligation to provide equipment to enable you to use
the account. You should be prepared for the possibility that they might
take you to the small claims court for the balance of the contract
although IMHO they would almost certainly loose such a case.

The key point is do you have a broadband connection on your phone line ?
Check by using one of the ISP line checkers for example :
If they've got the details correct in all the systems they have access to including your member center they will need to phone a team called netlynk and get them to change the details...during the week netlynk are open 9-6 i believe...hope this helps
