Wanadoo are being paid to offer a service and do not supply the service.
Since upgrader from 2MB to apparently a 8MB which I only get a mix of 6MB or 7MB before say about 18:30 during the day and after 18:30 ish its drops to 4.2MB
Problems here being going on since 3 March 2006.
During day i admit isn't as bad as pm after 18:30 this is when the fun starts lucky to get a regular 10 - 15 mins online without being cut of, if I wanted to be snipped I would go to the hospital. This is how I see wanadoo a big joke.
Called them every 2 days since the problems started, for the first 3 weeks they were have you got your Micro Filters on DERrrrr, Have you upgraded to the new SpeedTouch 330 Driver, Derrr, how many lights on the modem are they flashing solid etc. Oh PLEASEEEEEEEEE, I am a computer Engineer and System Builder and beyond the basics.
I have stated to them, that the problems have started since the upgrade over and over again they think everything is fine at there end. Apparently something tells them at there end your Broadband is Active. But it's for some reason doesn't seem to make sense to them that there is actually a legit problem.
I have been asked to phone before 6pm so they can do a line test. They over the weeks have said phone back in 3 days to find out the result, this has been asked of me about 5+ times. When calling again was told they carn't test phone lines. Does anyone at Wanadoo know what they are really doing ?
I spoke to Customer service the other night and the operator hung up on me just because I asked not to be taken through the basics of problem troubleshooting. Call back and spoke to his supervisor and they couldn't do out.
Already mentioned this in another thread, so apologies for repeating myself, but it sounds like you've got the same problem i had when i was with Bulldog LLU.
I had my line put in at 8mb, then lowered to 6mb, 4.5mb and finally 2mb.
2mb was stable, all the others result in my connection to the exchange being dropped and i was lucky to get a connection for longer than 2 minutes. This was because the Bulldog engineers all thought my line distance was approx 2.7km from the exchange. However, I finally managed to get an engineer who wanted to perform a more detailed test, and it turned out that my distance 4257 metres. So that's 4.2km instead of 2.7km... Not much difference then...
And his response was that due to the line distance, and the contention on the exchange, I couldn't get a stable connection. He set it to 2mb and told me to contact them again if i had any more problems.
At 2mb the connection was rock solid, but after 7 weeks I cancelled the line because I refused to pay £30/month for a 2mb line.
I'd recommend getting a detailed distance test done on the line. If you're with 2/2.5km you might be able to get 7 to 8mb. However, from the speeds you mentioned it sounds like you're beyond that.
