Hi thinking of getting Orange broadband, but would like to know the answer to the following please;
My current set up is 4 PCs,
PC 1 is connected to my Netgear wired router
PCs 2 and 3 are connected to an ethernet switch which in turn is connected to my Netgear router
PC 4 is a wireless laptop
Can I connect all 3 desktops (not wirelessley) to the Livebox, preferably one directly by ethernet and 2 via the switch box by ethernet cable?
In other words is it like the Sky type wireless router with ethernet switch ports?
Secondly I have been told that everyone gets the same wireless modem / livebox regardless of package and its functions are turned on or off by Orange, can anyone confirm or deny?
Yes you should be able to connect that setup to the livebox in the same way as your previous netgear.
Effectively all liveboxes are the same. Orange do control what it can and can't do to a degree through the firmware updates. The talk service has to be different for each one so that's remotely enabled. Otherwise general features are controlled from it's config pages.
