last sunday i started to get latency on my line (or lag if wanna call it that)
im a huge online gamer so this affects me quite a bit
on tues i had had enough because i thought it was just a bit of general lag..but after 3 days i had began to worry haveing very minor problems with Orange (after being with freeserve/wanadoo ect) i called them up only to yet again be put onto another non english speaking puppet of Orange on the other side and in short the conversation went something like this
*.him
$.me
$.hi i seem to be experianceing some problems with my internet latency and such
*.ok so what seems to be the problem
$.uhh im experianceing latency on my line its lagging..u know not going fast
*.is the @ light on the box solid
$.if it wasnt we would be haveing a diffrent kind of conversation
*.ok so what is the problem that you can not connect to the internet
$.NO the problem is that i have a problem with the line im geting latency..lag..slow internet!
30 seconds of silence
$.HELLO!
*.yes hello
$.well!
*.uhhh i do not know what latency is
$.what?!..you dont know what it is
*.no can you explain it to me?
$.latency means slow internet..lag..u know s.l.o.w i.n.t.e.r.n.e.t
*. oh ok so you are haveing slow internet
$.yes thank god!
*. ok is the @ light solid on the box
$.what?! yes! i already told you this!
*.ok what you need to do is perform a speed test
bearing in mind i have had this for 3 days and dare say am pretty gifted when it has come to computers.
$.ive done that i run speed tests every day
*.you need to run 3
$.yes and i have run about 6 while i have been on the phone to you(on my mobile)
*.ok what you need to do is (he went through his cut and paste answers to explain how to delete cookies and net files)
$.ive done that already..and seeing as i have 3 laptops and a desktop all experianceing the same problem i doubt VERY much thats its going to be that
again 30 seconds of silence because A.he dosent know what to do and B.the Orange FAQ secion that he is looking at dosent give an answer to my problem.
$.hello!!!
*.yes hello
$.are you just going to sit in silence and hope i go away?
*.i do not know how to help you
$.ok listen heres what you have to do..open a ticket for the tech department
*.ok
$.no add my details to the boxes...and the problem im haveing..SLOW INTERNET..and send that off to the tech boys they will test my line for problems and that will help me narrow down what it might be..now when you get a result call me back ok
*.i can not call you back you have to call us back in 24 hours
$.what?!! are you jokeing..I have to call YOU..thats not very good customer service is it!!
he stammers for a couple of seconds..now what he says next is a total lie and you will see why
*.oh wait a min they are doing something here that is causeing your problem

*yes thats right
$.there doing maintenince on my line
*.yes
$.there doing something to my line right now???
*.yes
$.can you see them?
*.yes

$you do relise that for you to have the ability to see if they are doing anything to my line you would have to be here in the uk because its only in the realm of dreams that my line and server are there in india because not only would i not be able to get on the internet..i wouldnt even be able to phone you
*.you have to call back in 24hours
$yeah what ever dude *click*
following that conversation..i sent a swift email to Orange expressing my deep DEEP dissapointment in them and there service
only to be given this reply
We understand the situation you are in.
Since you are receiving slow speed issue follow the steps below for help
:
* Go to the Livebox Home page - Click on System Information - Click on
ADSL Tab .Please note down the Downstream and Upstream speed. This is
your synchronisation speed.
* This will be your base speed, now remove all telephony equipment in
your house leaving just the Livebox connected to the main master BT
socket using a filter. Now, note down the speed again, check if there
has been a positive or negative change. If there is a positive change
of more then 50 kbps, you can happily conclude that there is a setup
or wiring issue in your house.
* If the speed does not increase swap the filter and note the speed
again. If the speed improves, you know that the filter was the reason
for the slow speed.
what the hell does this have to do with the crap customer service i was given
so in short..is any1 else experianceing slow internet lol
sorry if that was a little long and the spelling was crap lol
i will be leaveing Orange VERY soon and going with the ISP i had before i moved house bulldog/pipex THE BEST isp i have ever had..i got my own tech guy an everything it was brilliant
