They capped the speed in order to increase my LLU speeds from unusable to working. I just wonderied what the point of displaying the (non)attainable speed was if it wasn't achievable

Upstream = 288 = LLU
This was following my "speed upgrade" email. I was getting 5MB prior to this
Last night was the first time I plugged in the livebox - only to be replaced by my netgear after 10 mins. It's spooky where it got that attainable rate from

Yes agree with LLU but upstream = 288 = BT IPSTREAM HOME 2000 also. So in my view it could be either. I've seen it discussed before with no clear answer so you could be right that it is LLU.
Yep that's one thing I am going to do some time before I leave Orange. It won't make much difference to my current connection anyway since I get download speeds of around 1800 which for my downstream rate I can live with
Nobody actually gets the attainable, that's what you'd get under perfect conditions and that never happens. Closest you usually get is within 200kbps or so, it's just a useful guide.
There will be cases where the line appears it should be able to run at that speed but can't when it's actually tried. It seems LLU is a bit more prone to this due to how it works and that there's no real error correction etc.
That's fine -
When I get round to checking my extensions - possibly replacing the mcrofilters, I will do a before and after and see what happens to my stats
