HELP!!!!!!! If anyone can offer any advice I would be very grateful. My Dad took out the connect to Orange broadband offer when they offered £300 off any laptop in PCWorld if you connect to Orange so he signed up.
He connected his supplied Speedtouch modem to the PC and installed but got the error username password invalid. After checking multiple times with customer services and the awful tech support it appeared that they had activated the wrong line. This was corrected over a month ago but now he still gets the same error.
I have spoken to customer services who ensure me the line is activated, I have tried another Speedtouch modem, different filters, re-installation of the software on his PC and laptop and still get the same error every time. Technical support actually refused to help last night as they said 'they could not help us further due to a problems with their system connecting to the line?' again customer services said there was no issue. The error he gets in the event log is 'Error 691 the remote access server refused the connection please contact your ISP' Money is being taken out of his account and has been for 3 months. Customers services won't help and technical support won't help. He has spent more on tech support calls than the actual cost for broadband. Previosuly Tiscali has been working swimmingly for 2 years (I installed and it was up and running straight away with the same Speechtouch modem model). The Orange Broadband account was opened on 5th August but he has never been able to connect. Is there anything we can do, it sounds like he needs to just cancel but how do we do this without incurring costs and then what about the laptop offered through the deal??? Orange customer services cannot even tell us!!
The best thing to do about those phone call charges is to write into their Head Office and send in a covering letter and a copy of your phone bill...this is what i was advised to do and they got it chased up and i actually got a refund !
From what i understand customer support have no idea about technical issues so that's why they would say that everythings fine from there side and i know tech support don't generally sort issues out...
