A long story so bear with me....
My previous setup was costing me....BT Phone Line and Broadband and Talk Talk had my call plan, so....
Mid Oct 07 Decided to give the Home Max package a go....with an existing mobile contract I'd only be paying £15 a month...or would I?? Arranged a Homemax package over the phone..everything sorted..MAC handed over..you'll have Livebox within 10 days...then waited....
Early Nov 07 Heard nothing...and then a Livebox arrived in the post. Connected it up and got onto the internet straight away..Logged onto my email address to find several emails in my inbox, one of which stated that Orange were unable to offer me the home phone service and my broadband package had been downgraded to Home select!!!
Talked to several people, all over the world, and heard several conflicting reasons..a failed credit check??? and BT wouldn't release the line??? And my package would be costing me £20 per month??
Phoned BT and found them more helpful, the reason ' probably because your calls are handled by Talk Talk, you'll need to cancel them.'
Phoned Talk Talk and got mucked about a bit. Over Three days phoned back again and again. I was then told that my service would be ending on 16 Nov..as instructed by Orange?????
Phoned up Orange...yep your package is being upgraded to Homemax effective 16 Nov..just £25 per month!!?? Why?? You need to be in the first month of your mobile contract to recieve the reduced rate of £15. No one explained that to me....the person I spoke to was terribly apologetic..He did suggest that I upgrade another contract, due for renewal soon, and then link the broadband to that for the reduced rate, and another 18month contract!
Tried to activate my second line twice...no emails or sign of activation.
16 Nov Homemax activation day....Nope..I get an email saying that they have closed my Orange home phone account as I requested, all my phone calls will be billed to my supplier....I have no supplier, I've cancelled BT and Talk Talk at Oranges request.
After a very lengthy call, it was suggested that I phone back on monday..what about my home phone?? I'm sorry sir, please phone back on monday...
I STILL have no active BT line, yet have working broadband and, after several phone calls, a working line 2.
No BT service, first order was rejected by BT (initial go live date 16th Nov). Second is due to go live tomorrow (after umpteenth call to Orange). I'm not holding my breath. Order was place on 19th October.
No communication from Orange, and even emailing the Executive office over a week ago yields no response.
When a firm cant even get your DOB right, despite copying them from your mobile account of over 10 years, what hope is there.
Seriously, if you are thinking about using Orange as your phone provider - DONT. Go and stand in the cold slapping yourself with a wet kipper until you stop thinking Home Max *might* actually be a good Idea.
if theyve put you on home select because of a failed credit check then you are not held to a contract. I would advise you to ask to speak to customer care team and they will offer you something to retain you, if you intend on leaving and they will go to the lengths to sort everything out for you

Nope, I've passed one.
So I'm going on the mis-sold package angle. Either they will pay the fee BT will charge for me to activate the line, break the contract and port to Orange or they'll be letting me leave the contract.
So far they've accepted I wasnt given correct information, and that their definition being that an active line is required is factually ambigious (a non-working line is classified by BT as working as it is still connected to the exchange - as proven by the fact I'm typing this now from the very line in question!!!!!!!!).
I'll know by lunch time tomorrow whether I'm staying with Orange, or they let me go.......
And go I will! And mobile's due for contract renewal too.....
Well I'm still writing to Orange ref MY story (I'm not the thread OP), currently page 6, so while you await my full reply (yup I'm gonna plaster it everywhere)
