I've seen lots of posts where people say run the test at http://speedtester.BT.com/

All i ever get is this:-

Test Error

Unexpected result received when querying the network to find your services connection details. Please try again shortly, but if this problem persists raise the issue with your service provider.

What should i do?

If you're on LLU then the BT speed tester doesn't work.

I've yet to get this speedtest site to work for me either. It either does nothing after I enter the telephone number and click Go or today it asked for my normal login address following that for 'additional verification'?? Is this my Orange email address, my broadband login or what? What a confusing site

your broadband login name, so it could be
username.wanadoo.co.uk@fs for example

If your upstream synch speed is 288 though, it won't work

If it asks for your login it means it can verify your details, so you're not on an LLU connection.
