Does anybody know if Orange Broadband have the right to insist that cancellation notice must be by phone?
I e-mailed them to cancel initially in May and they have used all sorts of reasons to deny acceptance.
They just keep quoting T&C's.
I have an aversion to 0870 numbers believing them to be one of the greatest rip-offs of the modern day so after ringing them 3 times and not getting to speak to anybody I resorted to e-mail.
Had I got through no doubt I would have been subjected to the hard sell tactics at my bloody cost!!

Thanks in advance for any comments
They do say this in their T&C that MAC requests and cancellations need to be by phone. Not even in writing. I have been arguing that this is unfair as I think OfCOM insists customers be able to manage their accounts by post if they wish.
Check on saynoto0870 there is a 0800 number for Orange as I can remember.

Quote this link at them.....they can't go against their own Knowledge Base documents :
"how do I transfer my broadband service to another ISP?
Article ID: kb732
We don't want to see you leave, but if you do decide to change broadband provider we can help to make the move go smoothly. It's really simple:
get in touch with us by phone, email (by clicking on the 'email us' button at the bottom of this page) or letter"

My brother has just tried to move from Orange and they refused to talk to him as the e-mail address was for his wife, although he paid the bill. He has now moved and they are still taking money from his account. I have a theory that they want to get rid of all the old Freeserve/Wanadoo accounts and that is why we have such appalling service. People I know with their mobile/broadband service say they are very happy with Orange.
