I've found a way of checking if your line has been unbundled! You need to have signed up to BT's Online Billing portal. Once you have a username & password linked to your line you can go to the following site :-
Click on "Track your landline order" & log in. You should then see any changes that have been made on your line. The ones your looking for are :-
PROVIDE BULK LLU LINE SHARE PSTN 1 £ 0.0 £ 0.0
CEASE BT IPSTREAM MAX 1 £ 0.0 £ 0.0
If you see these, then it's bad news I'm afraid... The "CEASE" is the end of your reliable FAST BT ADSL Max connection & the "PROVIDE" is the start of your LLU troubles!
I checked and have this;
Items in this order
Description Product name Quantity Cost Rental
PROVIDE LLU LINE SHARE PSTN 1 £ 0.0 £ 0.0
CEASE BT IPSTREAM MAX 1 £ 0.0 £ 0.0
From what you say this means I have LLU. I says order completed with last updated date of 20th Feb 07
Yet my livebox stats are:
Type : Interleave
Noise margin (dB) : 21.2
Attenuation (dB) : 29.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 12096
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 8096 448
Which indicates ADSL max.
Did speed test and getting 6mb, again not indication on LLU.
Clever idea with the order checking but there may be one hitch as glenhill2409 proves. BT changed the system of how orders go through so both LLU and normal IPStream orders go through the same system, the LLU ordering system, so they may both show up as the same thing. I could be wrong but if you're speed doesn't indicate ADSL Max or LLU, asking Orange directly is the best option to find out for sure.
This line has a Shared Metalic Path Facility (SMPF) on it - either the broadband or phone service utilises an LLU service while BT provides the other service normally.

Sorry to bump an old post but had to comment on this. I asked Orange and they told me I was still on IPStream dispite evidence to the contrary (UL:288, PPP server error)
Everyone on this forum should know by now that you cant ask Orange anything and expect a truthful answer.
