Hi, I'll be getting my MAC code soon, but wondering, do I have to
use it right away, or can I leave it a couple of weeks? Will Orange
just close my account if not used right away?
Do yourself a favour......use it the day you get it.
I will do my best to. Just have one more question. When I use
the code and switch over, does that mean my Orange account is
closed automatically, or will I have to ring them and close it
to prevent them from taking more payments from my account?
Once you have switched to your provider then I recommend stopping your direct debit to Orange.
From experience, and thousands of posts on here, they have proved themselves to be a cowboy company that is only interested in customer's money and nothing else.
They have been know to 'forget' that accounts have been closed and still continue to take money that isn't owed to them.
Good luck with your new ISP, whoever you choose.
It's such a relief to move from these jokers to a company that cares. I move3d to Idnet and they are fantastic & care about their customers.
Once you have a MAC code generated you have 30 days to use it...However once it expires then you would need to request another but this can cost you money...second MAC code requests are £12(i believe...), so watch out!

You're kidding aren't you?
I doubt he's kidding but he is incorrect!
Current Ofcom rules on MAC provision do not allow MAC's to be provided for a price. Orange did do this roughly a year ago due to additional MAC's after the first were often requested, aimed at Sky and Talk Talk where many people wouldn't be able to sign up by the time the first MAC expired, sometimes more than 1 expired. The fee only lasted until when the new rules came in in February at which point it was dropped. Proved on here by no mention of it for a long time.
