I have recently signed up to the full unlimited Orange Broadband package (possibly regretting it now!) but to be honest i'm not impressed at all with the Livebox. It keeps loosing the wireless connections of my PC and Laptop and is just becoming a real pain in the ar$e!!!
The question I have is can I use my own Router as a complete replacement to the Livebox or will i have to keep the livebox connected? i know that if I remove the livebox I wont be able to use VOIP but i'm not that bothered as it's a hassle having 2 phones plugged in anyway (one for BT and the people who know my number and an Orange one!).
Easy - Once I setup the LiveBox successfully and connected the laptops wirelessly, I found that the signal was relatively weak so I used an RJ45 cable to connect my previous Belkin router into the red port on the side of the LiveBox. I found that the signal on the Belkin router was twice as fast. We use both routers now.
I can understand that if you have problems setting up the wireless connections, then this step will be pointless.
