Hi There, im a noob so please go easy on me.

I have been trying to set up xboxlive by plugging cable into the yellow port on the livebox and the cable input on the xbox.

when then testing connections the xbox fails to find the IP address. I have ttried changing ports on the livebox and that doesnt work either.

Any ideas?

Really appretiate any help as this is really doing in my noggin!

First thing to try is this:
Make sure settings on xbox are on auto, goto system blade>network settings>restore factory defaults.
Test connection again.
If this still fails ip test,
Power off xbox and livebox.
Wait 30 secs.
Power on Livebox.
Power on xbox.
Test connection again.
Should now work and give you a NAT status of OPEN, (which is what you want for xbox live).

Post back if you have any problems.
