Has anyone else been using wifi successfully on their MAC and then found that the WEP key is suddenly rejected by the live box? I have been using my airport card without problems until yesterday and now it is not being acknowledged and the WEP key seems to be the problem as the message is always that there was an error joining the network! Orange of course have told me that they do not support macs without any suggestion as to how they would advise a PC owner.
Go through either another computer connected to the livebox or an ethernet connection. Copy and paste the WEP key from the config pages to be sure. Put it back in pairing mode and try connecting again.
I suffer this regular, but am using a Netgear DG834GT
Has got to the point where I simply have the WEP 40/128-bit Hex key as a text clipping....and when my Airport card spits the dummy out, I type the network name, drag N drop the key, hey presto!
...interesting observation is that my neighbour suddly came online with his own wireless gig, get the impression it knocks my iMacs Airport config out

enter the livebox settings through a pc (if you have one) and make sure its setup to accept wep and wpa
if you dont have a pc try a reset of the livebox
Just from my recent experience, if you are using a MAC I think you must select WEP only. If you offer the option of WPA as well, the MAC insists on trying to use that, but there is no WPA password. Clever.
However I have a different problem discussed elsewhere, even when entering the correct WEP password I get a message about an error joining the network.
They're the same thing, the WEP key serves as both the WEP and WPA security key.
Really? We finally got our MAC connecting to the Livebox - it would not accept the WEP key supplied by Orange as a WPA key, and my (limited) understanding is that you must change livebox to use "WEP only" to have any chance of it working. Then, we had to tell the MAC it was WEP 40/128 bit hex, not WEP password or ASCII. It is very unclear from the information supplied by Wanadoo/Orange in the beginning. Can anyone answer for sure if you can use WPA with a livebox and a MAC (OSX)?
I've helped people connect a MAC with it showing as WPA with no trouble. Wasn't even anything special to do.
Ethernet connection, copy the key, go into wireless and select the livebox, paste the key in when needed, press 1 for pairing and then done.

Thanks - I think there is some incorrect information floating around out there, possibly in the bramley apple tutorial but I am not sure so will not say definitely that that is wrong. I was wondering why on earth the livebox would offer WPA if it could not accept it.
