I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird. When I click on "Get Mail" a notice appears on the bottom margin saying "Looking up pop.freeserve.co.uk".
On the same line through a window can be seen green bugs scurrying blindly along their tunnel off to he right. Then in a little dialogue box in the bottom right which slides up into view it says "Auto POP3:connecting to host" or something like that (it hasn't done that for a while and I forget what it was).
Then "An error occured with POP3mail server. Mail server smtp.freeserve.co.uk responded:"
Then "Auto POP3: Connected to 193.252.22.189/188/187/160/140/139/134"
Then "Host connected sending login information"
Then "Sending the password did not succeed. Mail server pop.freeserve.co.uk responded: onnect because authentication to back serve is too long." When it gives up completely. In my frutration I may have changed a setting in error somewhere.
Just lately it only gets as far as Looking up pop.freeserve.co.uk.
