Err basically... no.
From my own experience, and the thousands of others who post on here, the 'line test' is nothing more than a way to stall you and pass blame to BT.
Funny that when people, including myself, move to a real ISP any 'line faults' they may have identified disappear instantly.
Sorry to say but i agree!!! had a few line tests before openreach came to the door and the line is fine!! i aint had a rate greater than 133kbps, still listening out for the old dialup noise every time i hit connect!!!!
Vidd, try running a BT speedtest and post your livebox line stats. They give a much clearer picture of what's happening.
Bizdav30, your case is an interesting one where it appears to be the livebox at fault from what I've read. Without stats from another router or an engineer showing it can sync at 7meg it would be normal to believe there was a line fault.
I have had "line tests" run but nothing changes. I have been suffering line speed of 128kbs since July - and yes - I am on the 8MB pakage! No answers or help from Ornage despite letters, E mails and calls.

Well you have the right to leave when they have breached the contract.
So if you feel they have done so they simply request your MAC code and move to a real ISP.
They have to give you your MAC within 5 working days, by law.
If they fail to do so then you can report them to OFFCOM and ISPA.
Any money they claim you owe them under any contract is then void as they have breached it by not providing.
All Orange do is bully people into paying money to them every months and provide a pathetic service at the very most.
