are you using the master socket, if you are then i,m afraid its put up or get out so to speak Orange as i,m sure you have read in this forum are very slow,
No, I'm using a phone extension cable (about 20ft). I tried it from the master once, but gave the same results. Or do I have to use the socket for a few days/weeks in order to see any difference? Thanks.
It means the system has capped you at 2 meg. Wait for 3 days and run a BT speedtest every so often, make a note of the downstream and profile. Also keep an eye out for disconnections.
It has been like this for several months now. I originally upgraded from the 1mb to 2mb service, which was a noticeable difference. Shortly afterwards I decided to go for the 'up to' 8mb and there hasn't been any difference at all. I reckon they've just fixed it at 2mb.
Well it's best to monitor it for 3 days to be sure. Try and leave the box alone for that time as best you can.
It's possible it's gotten stuck at that profile, it's been known to happen though it's fairly uncommon. They'd need to put through a fault/line test for that and it may be a good idea to ask they add to the fault management notes to investigate a possible stuck profile.
OK, I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the help. Is it best to phone support and ask them to log it or use the e-mail form on the Orange site? I'll let you know if anything changes.
Mine has been stuck exactly the same since XMAS! Orange are F'in useless, they don't know how to fix it even though ive told them exactly what the problem is! Apparently all they have to do is get BT to reset the IP / Bras profile. Ring 0845 070 2976 and tell them to get BT to reset the profile.
This is the number I was given after complaining to ISPA.
After being stuck sub 2mbps for months, I tried a BT test the other week and this morning I got 5.8mbps. Woohoo! Still going to leave as soon as the contract expires because they are so crap, but it'll do for now.
