I have wasted about £50 worth of calls on Orange and at least 150 emails, no word of a lie either !.
I used to have 1mb wired connection. It was fine, but slowish. So i upgraded to 2mb Wireless in February 2007. WORST THING I EVER DID !!! - Speeds were a pathetic 400kbps between about 6pm and 11pm EVERY NIGHT !!!!. Some nights it was even down to less than dial up (about 40kbps !). Really pathetic.
I rang Orange in the order of 30 to 40 times and each time they took me through a process of "clean your history / cache etc" - i know it's NOT my PC as this also happens on my laptop and my fathers PC too. It was a line or exchange issue. But Orange would not accept this !
It took until April for them to finally send an engineer out who confirmed that he has switched my line onto the "broadband line" that runs out of the exchange (newer wiring). That seemed to help slightly. Speeds during the day were up to close to 4mbps (only guaranteed for 2mbps !), but the evening speeds were pretty close to useless still (about 800kbps)
I have had numerous callbacks from Orange telling me that engineers had located the problem and were working on it. I have heaps and heaps of speed tests i collected over 7 months (and still i'm doing it). They did numerous line tests, but kept fobbing me off with how engineers would have the problem rectified shortly.
Well that was back in April. It's now September and Orange have done NOTHING !!!! - they just give me the bog standard e-mail replies of how sorry they are and they are working on it and how they value my custom. But they don't give a sh*t !!. They just want our money and don't care about the lack of service !
I have been promised 3 callbacks in the last week. I have not had any of them yet !
Speeds are still a pathetic 600 to 700kbps during 6pm to 11pm. This is the main time i use it, so i'm paying £19.99 a month for this really bad service.
In basic - Orange care about nothing but your money, their customer service is absolutely rubbish, none existant i'd go as far to say. Speeds are unworkable, i cannot download music etc at 500kbps, it's just not acceptable when i pay for 2mbps.
They still have not solved the problem, and after 7 months i hold little faith in them.
A quick word - if you're thinking of broadband AVOID Orange AT ALL COSTS !!!!!!!!!!!
