hello everyone.
I just received my Orange broadband package on 22nd aug. I have set up a wireless connection for my destop pc using the usb and its working fine.
My laptop has an in bulit wireless adaptor, when i run the disc it says the connection is connected, but i can't actually view any web pages or log on to any messengers, however i can view the rounter page.
I have phone Orange 57 times, done all the steps and everything, they have done line test and everything. They said phone the manufacture to see if the LAN card is working correctly i did today and they said everything is working.I phoned them back they said they will have a solution tomorrow, so i have to phone in then.I have tried to cancel 3 times but each time they say the supervisor will ring me back but never does. THIS IS TRULY THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECIVED.So i have given up,i would really really really appreciate if someone can help me with this problem, thank you for reading waiting for replies thank you.
Here are some details of my laptop,
Sony Vaio FE series,
Intel Core Duo processor,
WLAN =802.11a/b/g
Well if one PC works wirelessly and another doesn't it pretty much rules out the livebox and broadband connection leaving only the PC or the software loaded on it to be the cause.
To be honest Orange would have no reason to release you from the contract for free as the service is working and indicating a PC problem as the cause of your problems.
Does the laptop have any security software and have you tried removing it?
Can you view 216.239.59.99 in internet explorer?
Can you ping that address?
Does it have a proxy server set? (Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings)
What does it show if you go into the wireless connection's status and into the support tab?
hi thanks for replying,
I have norton and i have disabled the firewall
I cannot view 216.239.59.99
When i ping the address its says 100 % lost
I have no proxy set
Support tab says :
Address Type : Assigned by DHCP
IP Address: 192.168.1.162
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Defualt Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Waiting for your reply please help me get this sorted thanks

Defualt Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Are you certain the default gateway was 192.168.0.1?
That should default to 192.168.1.1 and if it's not then it's likely the cause of the problem.
You'd need to set the details manually by going into the connection properties, Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties and putting in the following details:
IP - 192.168.1.2
Subnet - 255.255.255.0
Gateway - 192.168.1.1
