I am fairly competent at setting up the Netgear routers. I set one up at my folks for two wireless laptops and a pc hardwired to it. I also have used another identical router for my gfs brothers at their house for two wireless laptops, dads router recently died and i bought an identical replacement - to sum up I have never had a problem setting these routers up.
I have tried twice with two of the routers that work at my house to get my wireless laptop connected, all the lights are identical and working, I can see the router on the laptop and it says connected but the internet just doesnt work.
The only difference between my house and the other houses setups is that Im with Orange Broadband (the others are with tiscali). So is their any specific Orange related 'numbers' i should be typing in to the netgear wizard, (those relating to ip address's, wan's and lan's and those types).
The Router is the one which has wireless function, 4 lan ports and a firewall built in.
If you can access the router's config then you don't need to mess with the IP address assigned to it by the router.
What happens if you try putting the following address into internet explorer?
216.239.59.147
If it brings up a website then you may just need to manually set the DNS servers for the connection. The addresses for them are in the Orange settings link at the top of the page.
