I have read that some people are having problems with the yellow RJ-45 port on the Livebox, maybe I can shed some light on the matter...
Orange phoned me up 2-3 weeks ago asking if I would like to partake in a digital TV trial with them. Seeing as it would be free for two months and I would not have to pay for the on demand films, I said yes. Couple of days back I got some emails off Orange saying it would not be long now till they sent out the digi set-top box which will run over the livebox. Mmmmhh... will run over the live box... ok.
Two days ago both pc's could not connect to anything. Couple of test uncovered DHCP service not running, ok, I'll set my own IP's and what not. The next day, no connection again! So I tried the laptop, nothing. It was connected to the yellow port. I tried every troubleshooting idea I had to no avail. PC set back to DHCP worked then stopped. Set back to static worked again, but not the laptop.
After investigating the Livebox setting, it seems to have updated itself. The Yellow port is now for Digital TV over IP!!
My solution, 8 port switch into the red RJ-45 port and both my PCs running into there.
Conclusion:
It seems to me that the firmware update reserves the Yellow port for Digi TV over IP now and creates a problem for the Livebox's DHCP service...
Has anyone else been offered the free Digi TV trial??

Ooo updated to new firmware? I've heard they were able to set individual liveboxes to get specific firmware but never seen it. What version number is it? (Bottom of the livebox system info page or on configuration > update)
I've not started the trial yet but will keep every one posted to how it goes.
With regards to my previous issues (I had the ppp server down issue too) and the dhcp service, no ppp issues have happened yet and if you use static IP on the PC the connection stays stable.
common speed for me are: 6144kbps down and 288kbps down according to the livebox. Firmware is v5.10.6-uk full.
How long before receiving a firmware update did you have connectivity issues? Has it only improved since you put in the static IP and is it now stable (i.e. no longer get connection drops?)
