When I got my Livebox back in March I was stuck around less than 1MB/s. Over the Summer it improved to around 3 MB/s. Then after I got my new Intel Centrino Duo laptop this month I am now consistently getting around 5.5 MB/s . This could all be due to the fact that I live in a student area and they have all gone away for the Summer but it definitely seems better!
Am I unique! I have used Orange/Wanadoo for a couple of years now and had no problems. I changed over to Livebox Talk on ASDL max a few months ago and its worked fine. I was getting about 6.5 MB according to Speedtest net until a few days ago, and I am now getting over 7 and sometimes 8.2. Do the Gods like me or something?
In some other threads, I have been a little scathing of Orange. However in one respect they have got it right, and that is my Internet connection has improved since leaving Demon for Orange (to get the laptop...very nice thank you,but the time taken is another story).
I am regularly getting download speeds in excess of 6000 kbps (IP profile 6500kbps).
Since I guess very little has changed in my local telephone exchange (apart from a change in network routing), my guess is that Orange's infrastructure is better than Demon (who were once a great ISP but sadly are not what they used to be ).
Also I am no longer having problems in sending e-mails out during the working day, which was an ongoing (and eventually acknowledged Demon problem).
