I have today received a letter from Orange informing me that my Anytime connection will now be changed to a Broadband connection unless I phone and tell them otherwise. What are they playing at? I have had numerous phone calls in the past from Orange asking me to change to Broadband. I do not want to use them. What right do they have to change me when I havent asked?
I have called them to say I do not want a Broadband connection but I should not have had to do so.
I would still keep a close eye on this, as quite a few of the larger providers have been found to SLAM your line, and it is then a right royal pain in the but to get the tag removed.

Once a company put its tag on your line then only that company can remove it.
Like vivaciti says it can be a pain to get it removed although the rules are 10 working days.
People have posted on here saying that Orange have put them onto a new 12 month contract without asking them first.
As Orange have told you they are changing you over to broadband it's worth checking that to see if you are going into one of these contracts.
If you decided to move ISP then the tag on your line can be transferred to the new compnay by either requesting a MAC code from Orange - they have 5 working days to issue it.
Use this MAC to move to the new broadband provider.
The other way, which I had to resort to as they delayed my MAC for weeks, is to cancel and wait for the tag to be removed.
After the tag is gone you are free to move to any provider.
Well I suspect it'll put you onto a new 18 month Starter account contract although due to how it's done it's possible it may not, I don't know enough details. However the 30 day trial option for Starter should still be in place so you can get out that way. At the very least the ISP is the same as the dialup account and all the details are the same so you're not trying to get some random ISP to release your line. Also as Orange don't do full LLU they shouldn't be able to just change your line over from another provider like how has been reported that Talk Talk has done recently.
Well their stipulation was that unless I rang within 14 days to opt out I would be automatically moved to Broadband. I have telephoned them and opted out. I just feel that I should not have had to do this.
After all the calls I have had from them in the past trying to persuade me to move to Broadband and me always refusing (I would not use Orange even if I wanted broadband) I felt it was a cheek to say they were moving me anyway.

I am beginning to feel that I should be closing my account with them. I dont like the way that they operate.
I have warned my dad about this and a similar post on here as he has Freeserve/Orange dial up for years he is now changing his dial up to another provider its a right liberty. Orange have the front of Selfridges.
