pfffft, I'm still waiting on the banking details to go through. Signed up on the 28th July, now 13 days later and no live box, no letter, no email from them saying I've been connected (though I can access the email account that's been reserved, saying I placed an order).
On the other hand, BT is still active, so they haven't used the MAC code given to them... on the downside, by the time they do anything the MAC code will of expired.
Mind you, I switched to Orange because it was cheaper, not for the laptop (that just sweetened the deal). I'm sure many would scowl me for doing so and say I'm better off with BT, but my connection's god awful anyways and Orange LLU isn't at my exchange, so pffft. I quite often get disconnects and download speeds topping out at 7kb/s on an 8mbit package (only 2km from exchange). BT won't sort it after 3 years of complaining, so Orange won't be any worse, just cheaper, with a laptop. Hopefully....
im on day 21 and still no laptop activation letter!!!!
had the livebox and been online for about 9 days now, not impressed with Orange service at all, broadband speed is the same as BT (was with them before moving)

got my laptop letter from Orange at 8:30am this morning and was at PC World by 9am ready to collect my laptop! woohoo!!!!
seems like a superb laptop (advent), so it looks like this offer is definitly being honoured but just takes longer than they said it would, i also kept ringing the laptop activation number everyday whilst i was waiting......
I got the avent laptop as well for £69.99 and its not bad at all.
Andy, I was with PlusNet before Orange and my speeds were all over the place. PlusNet are certainly not a bad isp but in my opinion and with the service I am getting at the minute I rate Orange better. Like i have said before in this forum, I believe most if not all of oranges problems are due to LLU which my exhange it not enabled for any isp.

Nice to hear the advent laptop is the good one. Thats the one I've gone for... whenever i may get my letter that is!
The advent is the one I chose as well. Seemed the best value for money, and a reasonable laptop. I actually checked the stats up on the PC World website before picking it, and it showed as having the Intel 950 chipset for graphics, yet on the tech guys it shows as having an ATI Radeon 200M. Both are good enough for what I need but meh. Wish I knew which I was getting.
Still, 2 weeks now since I signed up and no livebox/activation, and still on BT. Theres nothing wrong with my bank as I have direct debits coming from it anyway, I guess they might be delaying the people who signed up later in the deal? Ah well, as long as the switch happens within the next 2 weeks, BT MAC codes are good for 30 days and I got mine the morning I signed up for Orange.
Btw Puffer, the long time in getting the letter might not of been entirely Orange's fault. The Royal Mail's been having strikes for the last 2 weeks.
Nah I've not contacted them yet. I'll give it another week and if I've not recieved anything I can cancel (as its not gone active yet or anything, so I'm well within my rights to do so).
I might sign up to AOL after this. Orange isn't rated much lower than BT on ISP ratings charts (as I said, I've gone with them because they're cheaper and my line's god awful anyways), but AOL is higher for some stange, bizarre reason.
They're also still doing a free laptop deal, though, its rubbish compared to the discounted Advent, its better than the free EI systems rig, and its dell, so should get decent support if it ever goes wrong.

I signed up the 2nd day of the offer and still waitng for the letter! Yes the royal mail have had strike but it hasn' been constant and not always effecting business services.. and i've still got all my bills!
Well, they lose enough post in the mail as it is. Even if the strikes aren't constant, it causes a back log and I'm sure they're probably lost even more mail than usual.
But yeh, I suspect they're actually purposely delaying sign ups and the letters. Probably not enough liveboxes and laptops in stock to meet customer expectation. Whilst the liveboxes are kinda vital (yes, I have my own gear, but many who sign up won't have), the laptops aren't, so why they just don't give the vouchers and PC World say "Oh we're out of stock, you'll have to wait 2 weeks or so..."
Meh, well at least I'm lucky by not recieving anything that I can still duck out now.
I dont think there is a shortage of laptops as when I signed up the laptop I choose was reserved for me, when I picked it up it even had a great big Orange sticker on it saying it was reserved for a Orange customer.
