First post, having read all the horror stories , an rapidly losing the will to live.
Orange sent several e-mails saying that they were incresing my internet speed. the day came and just after I read the e-mail saying my speed had increased , I lost my internet connection and my BT LINE.
BT took almost a week to fix the fault at the exchange, they even told me it was caused by my internet providers equipment. I contacted Orange as soon as there was a problem and was told there was nothing they could do until the BT connection was restored. i dutifully waited then several dozen calls to Orange resulted in a line test and an admission of faulty equipment at exchange. That was 10 days ago. I lost my connection a month ago. I phoned today and was told there was no problem with my line and they needed to do another line test????????????
Short of flying to india and throttling someone, any helpful suggestions as to my next step is getting this fixed or leaving this shambles of a ISP.

When Orange send an email of this nature it normally means they are moving you onto their LLU system. Part of that process would require some reconguring of the exchange equipment which may have caused problems with your broadband and BT telephone service. Its difficult to know who is at fault as both sides tend to blame each other.
The latest update is that after finding a fault on the line, THERE IS NOW NO FAULT ON THE LINE.
However ,after me telling them again that the problem was'nt fixed, another line check was done and surprise, THERES A FAULT ON THE LINE.
Await engineers update on THURS.
Kicked up big fuss. 3 months free (worthless) and the promise i won't have to phone india again.
will see what happens thurs.
I'm afraid the only way to resume a good connection is to move to a real ISP.
Orange are not that, they are simply a lying, robbing excuse for an ISP.
I had my nightmare with them last year and then moved to Idnet after getting fed up of no connection for 2 weeks.
never had a disconnection or slow speed since.
As soon as I moved the so called 'line fault' blamed by Orange disappeared.
In other words there never was fault and Orange use excuses.
So many people post on here about moving to a new ISP and immediately getting a fast, stable service.
well after being told the fault was 'fixed' and then tol;doh maybe it is'nt and i'd need another line check.....I'm leaving. asked for a MAC code. What a bunch of w******* , they have messed me about for 1 month. i got out of them that they are aware of this issue and THAT IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE MOVE TO LLU's.
Not happy. have been lied to repeatedly by all inINDIA.
was promised call backs that did'nt happen
etc.
Once left will cancel everything including my mobile which is on Orange.
Would'nt p**s on them if they were on fire.
Great to hear you're leaving them tweenie - you will not regret it.
So many people, including myself, leave and post back on here with their new ISP speeds.
Fast, stable connections and companies that care are the common ones with Idnet and Be for example.
Orange are nothing more than a lying, robbing disgrace.
Phoned up to get MAC code, was told would take 5 working days by post.
accepted this..... Phoned back 24 hours later and told them i'd been waiting for my MAC code and lo and behold they gave it too me over the phone.......
even this was'nt a smooth process as the muppets managed to only give me the first half of the MAC code before the ' / '.
Did I really expect anything different?
