The only difference I notice is that my upload speed is now 2** instead of 4**.

That's the norm to be 288 when you've been LLU'd - or upgraded as Orange put it. If you're real download speeds (browsing etc) haven't plummeted then it looks like you were very lucky, or maybe that will come later for you

Oh Ok. Why are Orange bothering then? Why not just leave it as it is.
EDIT: Ok I found out, cheaper for Orange basically.
