received my Livebox today. I have tried installing it wired like the instructions say but are not having any success. I believe I am doing everything correctly but the @ sign light is flashing slowly. Reading the instructions this means the livebox is not installed correctly. It says about going into network connections under control panel and choosing LAN but this isn't an option
The slow flash usually means it is syncronised but not logged in. Usually the wrong username/password or they're simply not been entered yet.
Trying to make a wired connection without an ethernet port will do that, it's always best to have one as it's the most reliable type of connection to make and can help with wireless problems later on.
While I wait for my PCI card to come I have realised I have onboard LAN but I can't get this to work. I have a Asrock K7S8X R3.0 MB but no matter what I do the LAN doesnt work. When I plug the ethernet cable from the livebox into the RJ45 I get nothing (would expect XP to find and install it?). I have installed the driver but still no success. Can anyone help??
Yes and it is. However, the network adapter isn't listed under device manager???
Then it's not properly installed. Either something wrong with the drivers or the motherboard itself. Have you checked if it's listed somewhere else in the list like other devices, any with a "!" or "?" in yellow next to them?

Yes I have checked all of that and there is nothing. Could it be a problem with the ethernet cable?
Erm no, if it's not in device manager and not in network connections then windows simply doesn't know it's there. It should show all the time, cable or no cable. Also without the cable connected it should actually say "network cable is unplugged".

No didn't think so. I take it when a MB has onboard LAN there is no need for a card as well. If you look at the spec of my Motherboard the only think I have added to it is a Graphics card
This could be something as simple as your username/password being incorrectly entered on the Livebox Config.
Open up the livebox config (http://192.168.1.1 in browser user admin: pw admin). Choose 'My services' on the left, then 'Internet', which appears under it.
Now just simply ensure that your details are correct where it says 'Connection Login' and 'Connection Password'. These should read the same as the username/password you use on an adsl modem.
If these details are incorrectly entered it leads to the slow-flashing @ sign. When the @ is flashing slowly it suggests that there is an adsl signal, but no server connection.
Hope this helps eliminate another suspect fom your investigations.
I have finally got it all working - used a PCI Network card from work and everything connected first time. Now all I am waiting for is my line speed upgrade
