IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 160 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 109 kbps
can you beleave this is actally a 5mb connection? it was fine up until last friday.. then THUD! this...
Bring back Freeserve at least the only problem we had was double billing on switchover
That doesn't really have an answer to this specifically unless it's just a blip.
The main thing to note is the downstream showing as 160kbps. Thats extremely low and unless you're still within the 10 day training period then it is guaranteed to be picked up as a fault.
It would be interesting to know your current downstream rate, attenuation and margin reported by your router/livebox. If the downstream returns to 5meg then the problem should correct itself within 3 days.
Anything happen around the time it started doing this? New phone, storms, BT van with workmen digging a hole outside, downed trees, etc?

There has been building works in thhe area however that was months ago, however since switching over 9 months ago, theres been 'regular' disconnets between 40 mins or 7 hours long at random times and Orange have always blamed the BT line however it's been fine since it was installed back in the Freeserve days..
I've been thru both Freeserve and Wannadoo and next had these problems, since the switchover to Orange the service has been very poor if I knew this was comming I would have left Wannadoo before had or at least kepted paying the extra £12 for a near perfect connection..
That attainable along with the downstream sync from earlier post points to a major problem. With that attenuation you should be syncing downstream at sometheing approaching 6000. If you can identify your master socket and see if it has a cover held by two screws on lower half then I would remove this cover (perfectly ok to do so). Once removed this will isolate all extensions/equipment. Plug your router directly into the remaing part of master socket attached to wall. Do not use a filter. Run your stats again and see if the attainable and any other reading change. If attainable increases significantly then it would point to a problem with your internal wiring/equipment.
Good old Orange still using the line fault excuses haha!
Moving to a real ISP will get your broadband at full speed.
I did that and so many people post back on here afer doin g the same and report fast, reliable connections.
You'll be very lucky to ever get that with Orange, they are a lying disgrace.

Cosmicdance, I appreciate that you had an extremely bad experience with Orange. All you appear to provide in your responses is a level of negativity based on a subjective hatered of Orange. It seems to consume you. Don't get me wrong, I also think that Oranges customer/tech support is the worst I have come across. However, there are many of their customers, a huge majority I would suggest, that do not experience problems. Yes you can argue that this site suggests otherwise but the numbers would not support that.
This poster is looking for some positive input into their problems. As yet it is not clear where their fault lies. From the stats posted It could well be a problem within their premises. Lets not always assume the worse based on past experiences until it can be truely established where the problems lie.
Well said tvman!............I've been so bored with the repetitive nature of cosmic's posts I've actually stopped reading them.

Calling anyone a liar and a thief is surely abusive and hateful if not slanderous ?
Orange are continuing to lie to me about why i still have no internet whilst theiving from me by carrying on taking money for zero service and no idea when they may get more equipment so as to give me internet again. If i had the time to spend on my mate's totally reliable BT connection i would be slating them the same if not more .By the time my contract ends i will have had no connection for a third of that time and for half of the rest half meg or less speed .They promised me refunds free line rental etc non of which i received as far as i'm concerned they should be banned from i s provision. Also to get a signal on my Orange phone i hve to stand next to an upstairs bedroom window.
They are worse than a lying disgrace.
Calling someone a liar and thief could be considered slander yes.
When it's based on your own personal experience then it's not.
Maybe a job in the fashion industry would suit you nhyder - complimenting other men with your personal touch as you do on here.
If you have a problem with my posts then tell the admins.
If the admins have a problem with my posts I'm sure they would have told be by now.
Tvman - point taken my posts are repetitive and negative but new people on here may be swaying towards leaving Orange so anything that helps that is fine by me.

As much as my user name may suggest, you should not be so bold as to assume my gender - Love Shirley.

I actually think that people eventually see through such an approach and draw their own conclusions based on objectivity.
I await kremlik's reply in the hope that we can help to resolve his/her problem.

But surely Shirley (!) when I type a sentence with the namer 'nhyder' in it you would realise that it's not directed towards you?!
The second sentence you understood as I replied to 'tvman' but if you read this first sentence slower then the word 'nhyder' gives a huge clue as to who it's directed toward.
I do hope kremlik can get his/her problem resolved and us going off-topic hasn't put him/her off.

Yes, but the inference and assumption as to my gender was in the second part of the sentence. 'Maybe a job in the fashion industry would suit you nhyder - complimenting other men with your personal touch as you do on here.
