So last month I was cut off for 24 days.... and now the connection has died again (sunday) - orange promised to fix it maybe sorta by next monday...
The laughable aspect is the following:
I went across to a collegue's place and said "could I send a copy of emails?" - turns out he got an upgrade email and yep.... PPP Server down, so he's cut off as well!
Are Orange running their LLU network with rubberbands?

Orange havnt got a clue nor do their staff cos they wont spend the money to train them (apart from Elhana of course) move to a proper ISP i can assure u you wont have these problems. If ur in contract dispute it.

Good for you.
Even against Pipex or Tiscali Orange support wud still come last
I have been on today and asked for a MAC code - the script monkey was quite surprised that free dial-up (WOW!) and a promise that sometime at some future date I would have broadband again was not enough to keep me....
I can, for once, report a good bit of service from Orange - I asked for a MAC code on thursday and it arrived today - hopefully my Orange nightmare is drawing to a close.
I signed up this this afternoon, the process was quick and simple and I have already had two update text messages - one to say welcome and the second to give a connection date (@18th).

Yes you should get your router about 2 days before ur connection date you will be able to track it.

I'm on the value package - I should be getting @6mps - which is fine for my usage, which is mainly emails and webpages. I'm more concern about the connection being on!

I've had similar problems. 2 weeks ago I got the dreaded "PPP Server down" message. I waited 24 hours to clear up and got nowhere. Phoned the scriptmonkeys on tech support and got the ususl -
"please go to 192.168.1.1"
I'm already there
"please click on Services"
Already there
"Please tell me what it says next to Status"
Umm, that's the first thing I told you when you answered the call!
Got the usual Reboot the router and then we'll run a line test, please call back tomorrow.
Lather, rinse, repeat for a week.
Eventually got reconnected by sticking my old DSL router back on the line but my download spedd dropped from being 8192 to 2276 and download speeds dropped from 800 kb/sec to 20 kb/sec.
Back on to Scriptmonkey support and this time got some dumb git asking me to change my connection options to "NEver Dial A connection" even though I'm repeating that the options are greyed out becaue I don't have ANY dial up connections.
So I went on to Customer Support to get my MAC code, got someone called "Mark" Who told me they had identified a fault on my line and he'd call me on Monday to update me on the status. Of course he didn;t bother calling so I left it till Thursday before calling back.
This time I got "Luke" (I wonder if I kept calling I'd get "Matthew" or "John", very biblical) Who told me that if I promised to stay they'd give me 6 months free and drop my cahrge from £27.99 a month to £17.99. All I had to do was speak to their L2's whow would definitely sort my problem. 10 mins on hold later and Luke comes back saying that L2 wanted to run AnOTHER line test and for me to call back in 2 days. I repsctively declined as this has been gone on long enough and given that this was the 5th line test I had no hopes for any other response but "We want to run another line test".
So now I'm waiting for my MAC code so I can switch to Be.
On another note, why does it take them 24 hours to run a line test? I work part time for a local ISP and I can run a line test to a BT line in under ten minutes

I honestly believe that they don't run a test at all, it's just a way to stall people.
I had the usual bull from them, sam excuses everyone gets 'line fault' etc.
I rang BT and they found no fault. 2 weeks later I got sick of Orange and moved to Idnet - the apparent 'line fault' disappeared immediately and in a year I have never had one since Orange.
I think maybe it should be renamed to 'Orange fault'.

My line that could only hand half a meg and the line fault in my house, mysteriously disappeared as soon as I logged in to my new isp.The speed hopped up to sync at over 7mb the speedtest results at anytime of day always show over 6mb and clever zen came down the wire into my house and fixed the fault that had to be in my house according to nelson in India. But even still today the best one from them was while on the phone complaining about getting 226kbs on a up to 8mb line was.sir go to think broadband and do the speedtest there,ok I said one sec.nono sir you cannot do this while I am on the phone with you and the git hung up.
