I have been woth Orange since the good old Freeserve days.
I now have yet another Livebox Orange PPP connection problem. I no longer intend to use their support line after my experience today. I was advised to change lots of things including my Winsock settings and was finally told to contact Microsoft because my Internet Explorer was faulty.
I was on the phone for about an hour. Then I phoned a second time and support attempted to take me through the same checks as before. I decided to get on the web via dial up to find out the cause myself.
The status page on the Orange site indicated no connection problems.
My Livebox stopped working - being unable to connect to the internet. I could connect to it via wireless from the laptop. It showed all the signs of the PPP Server being unavailable. (Flashing @ sign) All I wanted to know was: Is this the case. My Talk details had gone and the status was SYNCHRONISING.
I must add that I have been through this in the past only to find that the connection is OK later. Three days later on one occasion. Now I find the connection OK after being down for 24 hours.
I am on the verge of cancelling my Broadband contract with Orange and going back to BT.
I now see that at PC World they are giving a free laptop to anyone who subscribes to Orange BB for 2 years. No wonder they cannot cope with the existing connections. They are probably spending their time supporting the new customers.
orange customer service is a joke - been trying for 4 weeks now to resolve broadband connection - several line tests, re-type username & password, try to connect to BB1,BB2,BB3,BB4,FS & BT user test - if the line is ok & I can take all my gear to a relatives house and connect using my details then surely the problem is the server we are connected to but Orange don't seem bothered enough to sort this - the only thing they have been bothered to sort out is our MAC code.....
