I've been with Orange since Wanadoo and found things just about ok until a few weeks ago when my supposed 8mb connection reduced to about 300kb. Now I've had enough and going to switch to a company that knows what its doing.
I've phoned up Orange about other issues recently and found myself talking to people in India. Now I don't have any issues with Indians or any other culture in sub-continent, but what I do have an issue with is trying to understand them.
I simply cannot understand an Indian accent over the phone so I'm basically asking - do I have to talk to a call centre in another country to get my MAC code or is there anyone, anyone at all, I can talk to in this country?
Many thanks for the help in advance and thanks for a wonderful website to take the fight to Orange.
You could ask them to "do the needful". It's a common term they use - e.g. when I asked them to change my bank account, they said they had done the needful. If you look it up on wiki you will see it means "do what is necessary"
If you just mention if they don't provide within 5 days you will contact OFCOM and the ISPA - I am sure they have heard of those
As for the accent - I agree - most are OK, but one guy part of our team is very hard to understand. I just have to guess what he's saying
Ring this number in the day time ,go to billing and accounts and tell them you want a MAC code.Be polite with them dont get persuaded to stay with free internet.

Remember your rights. They have to give it to you within 5 days of requesting it. If they dont threaten with a report to Ofcom and the ISPA.
They are breaking the law, and they know it. Be polite at first, but when they start to dick you around, get tough real quick.

They now accept MAC requests by phone or letter. I applied by letter and a week later got the MAC by email. They screwed up the email by not including the MAC and then resending the email to include the MAC but with random letters to the left of the ampersand instead of my name so my mail client left it on the server along with all the crap. Anyway I got the MAC eventually and it worked OK. If you request your MAC by letter you should include your registered address, phone number, email address and at least 3 characters from your password with the other characters replaced with asterisks.
