we have a livebox and it worked perfectly for a year.
In early June it stopped working - the laptop could connect to it, but the @ light was flashing fast so it wouldn't connect through to the internet.
I've rung tech support every other day since then. So far they have done at least 7 line tests, each has found a 'problem', each has been 'fixed' in 48 hours.
I can now do a hard reset on the box in my sleep, I have swapped microfilters, changed the cord between the live box and the master socket, disconnected the extension sockets, and still the @ light flashes fast.
I don't know what to do! Is it worth buying a livebox on ebay and trying a different livebox?
I connected my livebox up at the neighbour's house, who have BT broadband, and the @ light still flashed fast making me think it was a livebox fault. However they don't have Orange BB, and Orange said that therefore the livebox not connecting at their house would be expected. Is that right?
You've not had a connection for 2 months now and it will be ((5 sure it's Orange's fault.
Simply ring up, get your MAC code and move to a real ISP where you will get a good fast connection.
Orange do nothing but rob and lie, I found that out from experience.
Short of doing the right thing and leaving Orange ......
Our MD has (had) Orange at home and started getting the all too familiar connection issues. After many calls to the helpdesk located in India where English seems not to be on the job requirements list (not being racist, that's just the way the centre is.) it turns out that the username was incorrect. Basically he had a Freeserve account and should have been putting @FS at the end of the username. We finally got that information our of the "helpdesk" on the 8th call, at which point the woman also stated that he should have got that information in the Welcome Letter when he joined Orange. I did explain that A) no letter had arrived and B) he didn't actually join Orange, they took Wanadoo over. After a short "discussion" with the woman who insisted that if he didn't get a letter he should have known he didn't get a letter and phone the "helpdesk" to get one, and me asking that if he didn't get one, who does he know he should have got one, and maybe the new-fangled E-Mail system would have worked better, I hung up and called the cancellations dept.
Again more discussion (albeit with an english person from england) and arguing that if the service was awful why would we want to have the same service at half price (surely then it's twice as awful) we eventually got the request for a MAC code and am now awaiting for it to arrive. Apparently it takes 24 hours for them to generate one, personally I think it will take 24 hours for nothing to arrive.
Once the MAC code has arrived, we're moving him to a Nildram account.
or a cup and string, either one seems much better than Orange.

Probably best that you don't.

The @ light should flash slowly when connected to practically any IPStream connection in the country, BT broadband included. Providing you tried it for several minutes, and prefrably used your neighbour's RJ11 cable as well then I'd say it's definitely the livebox at fault.
