I am having a problem connecting to the live box via wireless. It trys to connect but either says limited or no connection or validating identity and hangs there. i called wanadoo and they said it was the wireless network card s i swapped it as i had 2 and same problem. I am using a PCMCIA enterasys roamabout 802.11 a/b/g dual so it should pick up the live box. Wanadoo said i should buy a usb wireless card but i dont understand what the difference would be. can anyone help please???
They probably said that simply because they can't really help much with 3rd party adapters.
Could be a number of causes.
WEP key (check on the config pages),
Firewall/Anti-virus (which you've probably already checked),
TCP/IP settings (needs to be on obtain IP automatically),
Pairing (pressing 1 on the livebox so it can establish initial connection),
Signal (changing channel on the config pages).

Is Windows managing the wireless connection or do you have 3rd party wireless software installed? If the latter then switch over to Windows Zero Configuration by going to Network Connections in Control Panel and right click your wireless icon. Select properties>Wireless Networks and then check the entry for Use Windows to configure my wireless network connections. Once you have checked this you can also try to repair the connection by right clicking the windows wireless icon in the system tray and selecting repair. This is correct for XP OS.
Another thing worth checking is that you have entered the correct WEP key when setting up the connection.
I have used d link g cards and i can finally get wireless working but only unsecured. If i put the wep key in it says validating identity still but unsecured it connects fine and stays fine any ideas

hmmm.....have just noticed in network connections that there is a question mark next to the wireless icon which says it is validating identity...should i worry about that?

i NOTICED that there was a message telling me that windows could not find a certificate so I went into the wireless connections properties and unchecked the 'enable IEEE802.1x authentication for this network'.....the question mark has now gone and status is 'enabled'
