We are unable to send out large numbers of e-mails to our team. The error message is "too many recipients". Did anyone come up with a solution to overcome this?
I have scoured through the site and it seems as though the maximum is currently 20 names. Does anyone have an update?
We thought of being clever and have invested in a domain name/mail service from a reputable Webhost. However, this does not solve the problem as Orange require you to send all outgoing mail via their webserver.
Any help from out there would be much appreciated.

Nothing to stop you using an alternative outgoing mail server though most domain name hosts don't seem to provide these.
I suggest the http://www.authsmtp.com service which also overcomes the Orange outgoing mail problems extensively discussed on this site.
Be sure to use port 2525 in your email client settings as the standard port 25 appears to be blocked by Orange for non-Orange SMTP servers (this is common practice).
You may find a secondary issue with the email client blocking too many recipients--For example, when I last looked, the Outlook limit was something like 300 recipients.
Two possible solutions to this are:
1/ Create nultiple distribution lists in batches of < 300 (or whatever the current limit is)
2/ Instead of distribution lists, use the mailmerge facility to send each email individually (this solution may avoid a change of outgoing mail server).
I have successfully used both of these solutions (not with Orange) in the past though I find Outlook mailmerge quite messy to set up--if you are not an Outlook user, most email clients will have similar malmerge facilities.
Many thanks for the advice. We are using 1&1 servers to attempt to send the newsletter and have switched to port 587. This has still failed at the 20th recipient. Any idea if this port is also on Orange's "hitlist"?
It is not immediately obvious from the 1&1 web site whether they provide their own outgoing mail server and one appears to need a username/password to access their help pages.
However, if 20 messages have been sent successfully, the problem seems unlikely to be an issue of the port number.
Have you tried using a mailmerge facility, rather than distribution lists, to create the messages individually in your outbox?
If there is still a problem with the numbers you send, you can resolve it by doing several 'send and receive' operations which can be automated in both Outlook and Outlook Express.
I would look also at your antivirus software - I had a problem with Norton Antivirus a couple of years back when it was scanning outgoing messages 5 at a time and the delay caused the mail server to time out after the fist batch of 5 messages.
This was easily solved in that particular version of Norton by de-selecting option to scan outgoing messages.
